Introduction

On September 24, 2009, US-based ExxonMobil Corporation (ExxonMobil), the largest publicly traded petroleum and petrochemical company in the world, won the 2009 Opening Minds Corporate Leadership Award. The award was given by the Institute of International Education (IIE)4.

The award was given for ExxonMobil's global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that aimed at improving education related to engineering, technology, math and science, and providing support to organizations to improve career opportunities for women.
